For my application the stock spool holder for the mini didn't work out well. So here we have a side spool holder that I designed to reduce the Mini's overall footprint and make changing filament easy and convenient. It mounts to the Y axis 3030 extrusion and sits on the desk/workbench surface. This is the Narrow version that makes the printer even more compact at the expense of room for your hands around the control screen

You will need
3 M4x12 bolts (for the extrusion mounting and the rod)
2 M4 3030 extrusion T nuts

To attach the rod you can use up to a M4x20, if necessary.

This version is for Prusa Mini's that has alternative "feet" I have other versions for printers with the stock feet.

Print instructions

The model in the photo is printed in PLA at .2 layer height, variable layer height enabled with 3 clicks of smoothing, 3 perimeters and 25% infill.

To make this easy you can use the 3mf file or the Gcode for the mini.

If you use the 3mf be sure to adjust for your filament.

The gcode file is for Prusament PLA.

For assembly 1 M4 screw goes into the hole at the top and screws into the spool holding rod.

2 M4x12 screws go through the 2 holes at the bottom of the arm, place t-nuts on them with the flat sides facing the model. Then slide the t-nuts into the slot in the 3030 extrusion at the location shown in the picture. Tighten the M4 screws to snug while holding the level to the extrusion. Once the screws are snug give the arm a slight pull to ensure that the t-nuts caught in place. If the arm doesn't move then you are golden, if it does, youi'll need to loosen up the M4 screw for the offending t-nut and try again.

Measuring for the foot - Once the arm is mounted measure the distance in mm from the bottom of the arm to the work surface, then add 10mm for the hole in the bottom of the arm. Go back to Prusa Slicer and import the Z42_Prusa_Mini_Narrow_Spool_Holder Foot.Stl Under "group Manipulation" in the lower right of the screen click the little lock so that it shows unlocked and put the number you came up with in the "Size" box under "Z", tap enter, then print.
