Simple LED Strip Mount with variable length for RatRig VCore 3 Pro (Enclosure) / 3030 Extrusion

These are holders for standard 15mm x 2mm metal strips where you put your self adhesive LED strips on.

This mount is a very flexible way to bring any kind of led strip into your 3D printer or any 3030 extrusion based construction.

You can use this with any led strip in any length. To keep your led strip cool, we are going to mount it onto a metal strip. For cable management we have a zip tie tunnel.

This is originally designed for a RatRig VCore 3 Enclosure, so how the parts are designed is heavily inspired by the original VCore parts.

For the VCore 3 Enclosure guys around: This holder can be used on the very top extrusions and keeps the lid functional.

What you print:

For each strip print two holders (left and right).

For enclosed 3D printer usage i recommend ABS, 3 perimeters, 15% infill.

What you need:

  • LED Strip (self adhesive) (max. width: 15mm)
  • Metal strip 15mm x 2mm
  • For each holder: Cap Head Screw M6 x 12mm +  M6 Drop In T-Nut (3030)

Assembly:

  1. Prepare your LED strip (cutting, solderingā€¦)
  2. Cut your metal strip at the desired length of your LED strip + 3cm
  3. Degrease your metal strip (Alcohol, Acetoneā€¦)
  4. Stick your LED strip centered on the metal strip
  5. Loosely fix screw and nut on the holders
  6. Place first holder on the aluminium extrusion and tighten the screw (don't overtighten)
  7. Fit one end of the metal strip with led's on into the holders pocket
  8. Fit the other end into the second holder
  9. Place the second holder on the extrusion and carefully tighten the screw
  10. Complete the wiring of your LED strip
  11. If you like to: Feed a zip tie through the tunnel and fix your cable for beautiful cable management 

What you get:

A simple, flexible and efficient LED strip holder in short printing time, which keeps your LEDs at temperature.
