This is a first version of spacers for creating a symmetrical map for 5 players for Twilight Imperium 4th edition.
I know hyperlanes work fine mechanically, but I never liked the psychological aspect of fake distance.
With these spacers, you can have the exact same map mechanically, but full symmetrical.
You'll need a single print of the center tile which hosts Mecatol.
You'll need 10 prints of the half spacer, which fits on my Ender S1 Pro bed (do 5 and 5 mirrored to have matching textures).
If you have a large enough bed, you can do with 5 prints of the full spacer.
I used default print settings for PLA.
I may add a variant with a tiny mecatol center tile if there is demand; it makes for a more compact map, and less printed plastic (but means you have to keep mecatol itself next to the map).
The shapes were created programmatically using ShapeScript (macOS only; sorry). Nothing was handmodelled. I did learn a bunch about regular polygon geometry through making this.
The ShapeScript language and underlying (Swift) libraries are open source, as is the viewer app which I did the STL export with, but you can support its developer by buying the app (and it means you won't need XCode to compile it yourself).
The author marked this model as their own original creation. Imported from Thingiverse.
