Edit 25/02: Added a V2 with some change including a shorter thread for an easier print and more space inside the toy (therefore less material too). I leave the V1 in case you want this model which has a longer thread.

I created this model for the "Cat Toys" contest hosted here on Printables. It consist of an assembly of two pieces: one bottom sphere part and a top (sphere or egg shaped) part that screws together thanks to a thread.
You can place some catnip inside before attaching the part together. Parts are available with some small holes for the catnip to disperse even more.
You can also simply use a small ball (or snack) inside instead for some rattle noises that they enjoy.
Now let your cat have fun with it!
They are based on the size of a medium egg from my chicken:
If you use a flat bottom: -1.5mm height
If you use a flat top: -1.5mm height
Even though there are several files for you to choose from, you only need to print two parts: one bottom and one top.
It can be printed in regular 0.2mm layer height, but since it's a rounded shape you might want to go lower at 0.16mm, 0.12mm or adaptive layer height on range 0.12-0.20mm.
For the same reason you might want to don't print to fast on the overhang.
I would recommend to print the rounded part facing the bed. The “flat” models are for you to print more easily. If your printer is not tuned enough you might want to add a brim or even add support directly to be sure to print successfully. If you add support be sure to choose only from the buildplate to not add them on the thread.
If you want to align the seam when assembled, you need to print the seam of the top part 90° clockwise to the bottom part. For example: seam for the bottom piece at the back side, seam for the top piece on the right side.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
