The GATX pneumatic discharge "Whale-belly" hopper is on my list of must-haves having seen many of these unique cars railfaning in Maine. They are currently stored and will likely be scrapped as the cement train in Rockland has ceased and they are beyond the 40 year service life.
You will also need:
279mm (11") length of Aluminum trim channel for ½" plywood. Hillman Model #11380 or equivalent.
17 Gauge bare wire for grab irons and brake lines.
For brake chain I use 3x2x0.5mm
Rivets 3/32" x ¼"
Kadee #907 couplers
6mm ABS rod for truck posts.
Wheels/Trucks - I use #974 A.S.F 100-ton Roller Bearing Metal Trucks
To get the shell smooth, I use Bondo Spot putty and Rust-oleum Sandable Filler Primer.
