Design

  • This design was made to give Lenovo Helix Gen 2 Tablets a case which can be secured using a Kensington cable lock and 50x50mm plate.
  • Mimics the Star Trek PADD design, but lamentably much thicker and not as sleak.
  • Exposes both the power connector, and the USB port. Other ports are hidden behind the side rails.
  • Front and rear cameras are usable with the case.
  • Faceplate/backplates are designed either with unibody construction, or split construction for smaller printers. Sized for Bambu Lab X1 (and by extension the P1P)

Printing

  • Print frame rails, and add heat set inserts (ISB-M3) - consult the attached diagram to see the correct face to add inserts from.
    • Top rail requires supports for buttons; if printed with bridging some cleanup may be required.
  • Print faceplate and rear plate, glue up and assemble if multi-part designs are used.
    • If using cyanoacrylate glues, ensure adequate ventilation time prior to assembly to prevent ‘hazing’ of cameras and glass. UV glues can work, but may require significant UV exposure to cure within dovetails.
    • Add camera lens guard ring with glue on rear plate.
  • Print 2x stands (if desired), and buttons.

Assembly

  • Begin assembly by placing side-rails on tablet.
  • Insert buttons into top rail. Assemble frame with bottom rail first, then top rail.
  • Drill out 2 holes in the locking pad with the included jig. Place it in position on the notched top rail prior to back plate installation.
    • Locking plates are hardened steel, use clamps, a good drill bit, cutting oil, and work safely!
  • Attach the back plate with M3 x 6mm button head cap screws and washer. Some fiddling may be required if your heat set inserts are installed askew.
  • Use M3 x 8mm button head cap screws + washer to mount the locking plate, slightly longer screws are required here.
  • Test buttons prior to installing faceplate.
  • Snap the front face plate into place.
