Resolution should be enough to even print with like 50x30cm. 

Variant 1 surface with plate: Base plate at sea level. Use this if you just want the land area or just want to paint the ocean area. 

Variant 2:
Add socket_2mm to the slicer. It's 1mm thick base plate and elevates the land by another 2mm. 

Add no_base on top for the real surface. 

As you can see in the photo, for variant 2 i filled the ocean with blue colored epoxy resin, what adds further depth. 

The model was painted with acryl colors without primer. Probably use primer, if you want the colors to be more opaque. 

Probably add a frame in whatever size you want to print this, if you want to fill it with resin. Should make it a lot easier and cleaner.
