Designed this for use with a Peak Design Pixel 7 Pro Everyday case, but should work with other magsafe compatible cases with the slimlink connector.

Thanks to Jerrod H for his clever design with a printed compliant spring mechanism, which provided me with some insights into the requirements of this project.  I loved the idea but found that the printed spring latch broke very easily and wanted something a lot more robust.

This model is mostly intended to be remixed into other designs, but could be OK as a wall mount and works passably well as a kickstand.

Includes a spring loaded slide and recesses for optional 8mm diameter magnets

No supports needed when printed as oriented.

Additional parts needed:

  • 1pc M3 X 30mm machine screw.
  • 1pc compression spring (approx 12mm in length).  The stiffer the spring, the more securely the phone will be held.
  • M3 X 3mm heat set insert
  • optional:  4pc 8mm diameter rare earth magnets
  1. Install the M3 heat set insert in the main body.  It's set fairly deep and is a bit hard to see so I've been using the slide with an m3 X 40 screw to hold the insert while I heat it with a butane lighter, then use the slide itself to align the insert with the hole.
  2. Insert the M3 screw into the slide.   The screw needs to be able to slide up and down freely within the slide.
  3. Put the compression spring over the end of the M3 screw.
  4. Install the slide in the body with the spring compressed and tighten the screw into the heat-set insert until the jaw is slightly wider than the slimlink connector.

In my own testing I've found the fit to be quite secure - I recommend using a reasonably stiff compression spring, and adding the optional magnets should eliminate wobble due to the spring compressing when the phone is moving.     I am happy with the way it works, but if you choose to use it, you do so at your own risk.
