I needed a support to paint modeling miniatures. Unfortunately everything I found around was suitable for wargame miniatures that already have a base of their own. In traditional modeling it is customary to insert a pin below the figure which helps to support it and at the end of the painting to insert it more permanently in any diorama. So I designed this stand that can hold pinned miniatures and has interchangeable rotating heads so you can work on multiple miniatures with just one handle.
I made the coupling between the handler and the figure via the internal connector of an electrical terminal block (see photo).
Used material
- One 608zz ball bearing
- An M3 screw of 16mm length or more.
- A related M3 nut
- A terminal block
The rotating head is locked into the base directly via the ball bearing. My printer is well calibrated, in case of a loose connection a small amount of blue tack inside the bearing housing could be useful.
