This is a bottom cover for the 2018 Mac Mini. Replacements are oddly expensive online and I was making another project that attached using the cover's system and since that's the hard part to model I figured I might as well make this cover as well. Please note that I have not printed and tested this model, aside from making sure the actual clip part snapped on the Mac Mini's steel studs properly. It is of course possible I made a modeling error that could lead to insufficient airflow, so please use with caution.

If anyone tests this design out, please let me know how it went. Thanks!

Print Settings

Printer:

Sidewinder x1

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.1

Infill:

100%

Notes:

Some features in the vertical direction are quite fine, so I'd suggest a layer height of 0.1 mm or using adaptive.

Oriented this part so that supports would be on the back side so the surfaces that need to be pretty aren't touched. I'd suggest blocking supports for the three clips to make post-processing easier. The important parts of the clips will be on the bed and the bridging above them isn't very large.

Of course, you could choose to print it upside down from how it is oriented now and only the outer edge would potentially require supports. Maybe not even that, depending on the overhangs your printer can handle.

Custom Section

View of cover's front.

View of cover's back.

Closeup of the clip that snaps over metal pins on the Mac's bottom. This is the tricky bit.
