This model was made by Andrea of Monta3DLab , the two towers are symbols of the city where he was born and lives.
During the Middle Ages, Bologna had many towers, serving both a military function (signaling and defense) and representing the social prestige of the family responsible for the construction. Over the centuries, most towers were demolished or collapsed, only a handful remain, of which two are the most famous:
The Asinelli tower (the tallest at 97 m) was built between 1109 - 1119 by the family of the same name, ownership passed to the Municipality in the following century. Climbing the 498 steps of its internal staircase, you reach the summit from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the city.
The Garisenda Tower (48 m) is known for its steep inclination due to the subsidence of the ground and foundations, so much so that Dante included it in the XXXI Canto of his Inferno. Lowered for fear of future collapse in the mid-fourteenth century, it is now being restored (from Andrea and Wikipedia).
