This came out great printed them 75% size in pla and abs.

Love this so much! Scaled it down to 10" x 10" and I'll mount it into a shadowbox.
Printed w/ PLA filaments:
Matterhackers Green
Overture Grey/Blue
Prusa Marble Grey (edited)
Thanks for this puzzle. It is discussed in the blog Welt der Geduldspiele featuring mechanical puzzles and 3D printing: https://welt-der-geduldspiele.blogspot.com/2023/12/parkett-von-mc-escher-fische-und-vogel.html
I printed in ASA without difficulty. My plan was to mount it outdoors but the colors looked better indoors. Thanks for the design and a callout to 3DBob and others for the escaping birds idea. I made them progressively smaller for effect.
@3DBob I love those birds flying off. It put a big smile on my face. Thank you for sharing it.
Nice and clever. Printed 8 pieces on plate, 0.4 nozzle, 0.15 slice height (1 hour, 45 minutes). Black vs Gold (Prusament Galaxy Black vs Creality CR Silk Gold) PLA.
I didn't use adaptive layer height and actually sort of like the grain this way as it is!
This is the same design that's found on the water purifying plant "Houtrust" in The Hague, Netherlands. Pic attached. (edited)
@Dangerosive_68154 Yes. I saw some photos of that and really, really wanted to have my own on my wall. Initially I tried creating my parts by tracing a photo like that, but it wasn't accurate enough. That's why I tracked down an original Escher drawing, and traced that instead. In that drawing, the fish had pectoral fins, which I liked and kept. (edited)
Very good design turned out very well. Printed in white no brand name PLA with 0.6 mm nozzle and variable layer height.
@MihRei_138598 It looks great. I love the multi-color lighting. I think I should upgrade the lights on mine now.
Printed using ZLR Green&Blue Silk PLA and Eryone Gold&Copper Silk PLA. Uniform 0.10mm layer height with 1mm top and bottom. I glued them onto a canvas from IKEA to mount them on the wall.
@Chongfun that looks stunning!
Prints nice. Printed with viariable layer hight. I'm really happy with the result.
