This is my entry for the 2022 Holiday Decorations Contest. I took inspiration from christmas village displays but I wanted to create something that could be modified by the user and not be limited to just Christmas. I used the Prusament Spool as the base for the holiday village and created “islands” that would snap into the hexagons on the spool. This way you can create your own village and tailor it to your liking. I have included a house and a tree as well as the bare “islands” so you can add your own decor. There are 2 versions of the islands, one with clearance added to the outer perimeter and one without. I added clearance to the outer edges to ensure the “islands” fit together. If you would like to make your own “islands” the clearance added would prevent them from fitting into the hexagons. The islands with clearance are good for adding decor to but if you want a larger islands they should be built without the outer perimeter clearance. The clearance used was .00390625 or .1 mm which works well for me on my Prusa i3 MK3S+.  Files are in 3MF Format and OBJ in case you want to use Blender or other 3D Modeling Software.

Edit 1 - Forget to mention support settings. I personally am overly cautious so I used supports everywhere, the spacing between the hexagons on the island is very small so the supports are difficult to remove. You probably don't need supports on the Island_Decor_House, I have not tested it myself though. For the Island_Decor_Tree you might want to use paint on supports, if you are using Prusa Slicer, where the gap between hexagons is bigger than normal. The Island_Decor_Tree has a 45 degree overhang so supports might be necessary, luckily they are much easier to remove.
