This is my attempt at designing a "fidget widget". It is mostly for to me practice 3d cad tools.
While not a remix, inspiration was drawn on the many great fidget widgets on thingiverse.
I print this without support. It shouldn't break when you try to free the joints. Please read the printing instructions for successful results.
Printer:
Hatchbox Alpha
Rafts:
No
Supports:
No
Resolution:
0.2mm
Infill:
33% (use higher for a heavier feel)
Notes:
I print this flat with 4 joints facing up.
I have updated the model a bit so**33%** infill, at**0.2mm** resolution, prints without any danger of broken joints when freeing the cubes the first time. I use a zig zag infill pattern which looks nice to semi-transparent or glow filaments.Print temp is 195c, I heat the bed to 60C for the FIRST layer only. That provides for good adhesion but the bed cools off after so it doesn't cause a layer curling issue later. Having a heated bed for all layers can cause failed prints due to curling from uneven cooling while printing the filleted edges on the bottom layers.
Note: Cura seems to have a problem slicing this design. It tends to fuse the hinges in some places. Slic3r and Simplfy3D slice it correctly.
