NOTE: This design has been superseded by my latest remix:

I believe the one above to work better! But if the one above doesn't work for YOU, it may be worth it to try printing this old design instead, as some people has said it helped.

Do you have the following printer errors when printing with the AMS?

Failed to pull out the filament from the extruder

Failed to feed the filament into the toolhead

Well, give this little mod a try!

In my case, I found the most common cause of these errors to be the PTFE tube having too much of a curve as it enters the extruder. This little bracket easily clips onto the cable guide on top of the extruder body and keeps it straight.

Will it fix your problems?

Maybe, maybe not. I think the AMS system on this printer needs a lot of refinement, but since I have created this and installed it, I have noticed a lot less error messages. It's only 1.3 grams of filament and 5 minutes to print, so give it a shot.

Printing Settings:

Default settings are fine. I recommend 0.16 layer height. PLA may be fine for a quick test, but PETG, ABS, ASA, CF, PA, etc. may be better long term to ensure it survives the heated chamber.

How to install:

  1. Slide PTFE tube through hole.
  2. Insert PTFE tube into extruder to lock in place.
  3. Slide the straightener down the PTFE tube until it's even with top surface of the extruder.
  4. Clip it on to the black cable guide on the back top of extruder.
  5. See photos if any confusion.

Leave a rating and some feedback!

Let me know if this helps at all, and also let me know if you can think of any improvements I could make to the design. I have also uploaded the .STEP file if you want to remix it.
