My shoe laces were starting to come apart and I couldn't find a lace retention system that I liked.

A couple were more convenient than these and a few looked better (I really wanted to like the magnetic ones). Then when I tested them I found they were overly complex or under engineered, at least in my opinion.

I even tried modifying a couple and redesigning one from scratch, but none of them felt robust enough and I don't trust magnets to hold up while running (not that I do that often, but who knows when I'll need to).

With all that in mind I designed this to essentially reach over and grab the other half, holding in place from the tension your foot creates. It can be used with one hand, but taking them off is easier than putting them on. Might try my hand at a chevron shape to make it a little more self centering, but that will come much later.

I did try to make these a “one size fits all” by making the outer holes slightly farther than mine and adding one in the center. So theoretically these should work for a wide variety of shoe sizes and lacing patterns.

Here's a short crappy video of me using them:

I added my logo once I finished the testing phase, so they will look a bit different than the first pics and video, but it's just cosmetic.

Edit: Added an S clip for flat laces as I didn't like how the knots looked.

Edit 2: Added v4 with a thicker lace section and a side clip to hold the excess lace instead of the S clip.
