Update: Dec 15, 2022
Added a new version that uses much less filament and adjusted the screw holes to also accept nuts. I have printed a few of these and it is my preferred model. (Drybox hanger light rect hydro v5) or (Drybox hanger light Round Hygro v2)
This is a spool holder and hygrometer holder for a very common food container that can be found on amazon. This container is just the right size for a 1 kg spool and is decent quality.

I designed the spool holder to allow the spool to spin no matter what direction the container is positioned. I add desiccant to the bottom of the container and the humidity stays at 10%
I tried printing the spool holder that sits on the bottom of the container but the rollers are not wide enough to hold the spool properly and it keeps falling off.
The spool bolt and nut is a derivative of this thing: www.thingiverse.com/thing:1241566. It takes the very common 608 bearings but you can print the version that I included that does not use the bearings and in my opinion works just as well. The spools that I have tested this with have a center hole between 53 mm - 54.4 mm and a width of 66 mm
To attach the holder to the lid use M4 screws. They will thread themselves into the plastic and hold well enough. If not you can add nuts to the light version I designed. You will have to drill holes into the lid and since the lids are clear you can use the printed part as a guide.
Print with the spool holder with the holder arms facing up. No supports are necessary if your printer can do bridging.
This is a well tested design and I currently have 12 of them in use and in various levels of development.
