Eppendorf Tube Rack with Spring Mechanism

Available sizes

  • 2x16, 4x16, 6x16, 8x16
  • 3x8,  4x8
  • 3x6

Description

Tube rack designed to hold your Eppis tightly with springs. I find this useful for storage of large collections of tubes, to avoid falling out and having their order scrambled. The bottom of the rack is open for contact with ice in an ice bucket. One rack of size 16x4 will cost ~1.50 Euro of plastic, much less than racks would be in typical places for lab supplies.

Print Instructions

  • 0.2 mm layer height / 2 perimeters / PLA (others not tested) / no infill / no support
  • Upside down orientation (springs towards print bed)
  • Good first layer adhesion needed due to small details in the springs
  • Color can be changed after 2 layers to get a color accent on top of the rack (I recommend vibrant color + white)

Update 11.05.2024

The diamond shaped spacing between the eppi slots was redesigned to be two layers thick (0.4 mm) instead of one layer. There was feedback that when printers are not well calibrated, the single layer looked underextruded and not esthetically pleasing. I also included a step-file of all models if you want to make modifications.
