Would you be able to modify the hexa cups so it’s held only by magnets? Without the little studs?

@LupusWorax how did you print it? And with which settings? I can’t seem to get that part to fit together on the controller. There is always a gap visible and the studs don’t fit.

@mmmmate_1297665 Look, so many before you managed to build this thing, if the studs dont fit, make em fit, use a knife to scrape off the remaining support structure or whatever causes it to not fit.
You could slightly heat one side of the grip with a hair dryer to just make the material soft enough so you can but both halves together and make it fit, there are many ways of making 3d prints work in so many ways.
Every printer prints slightly different caused by the wear of the nozzle, type of filament, humidity, flow rate and and and, you have to find out yourself what works best with the printer you own.
I can only try to help but even then I need proper information to work with, you also have to provide proper material to show me the problem like a picture.

3d printing always will include some afterwork to make stuff fit, I know it can get frustrating at times but you really have to use common sense here, if it does not fit, make it fit, if it fails and the part is beyond repair, well try again.

Hey i tried printing the hexa holder but it doesn’t seem to print right, the top is too small for the controllers. Everything else prints perfectly tho

Hi @LupusWorax. Quick question here. I am having problems with game adjustment of the stock. No matter what I do it shows that I aim high up. Is there any way of offsetting that somehow? Tried it in breachers and Ghost of Tabor for reference.

@DstrYrmnd_858606 Hmmm havent played any of those but I know that in contractors there is a whole section to adjust the gunstock, offset, height, yaw etc. It really comes down to the game if it supports gunstocks or not.

@DstrYrmnd_858606 are you sure you've enabled the mechanical gunstock option and not just the virtual gunstock by accident?
(In tabor)
You get extra calibration options for all type weapons you can calibrate.

Hi, great project, I want to make it. But I have some questions.
The orange and blue parts are 10 right? Because in the project is only one.
Another question is: the 22 parts are the only ones that has to be printed? Or should I make more of an especific one?
Sorry to bother but I'm really new in this stuff.
Thanks anyway. :)

@LupusWorax Thanks for your reply. So what you are saying is that I have to use every item without "old" or "HEXA" and choose the other ones between "old" or "HEXA" right?
I hope I'm explaining myself correctly.

@helrazzrr_996162 yep you got that right, if you want you can even mix both of them depending on what you prefer. When you check pictures you should be able figure out how many and what parts are needed ;) You can also check the makes of other users, some even posted their constellation of parts on the print bed.

Just aa quick question here! How long does it take to print the part on average? I don't own a 3d printer myself but I like the build a lot. I am just wondering if it's gonna be cheaper to get it printed by someone then buying a stock from a website like Etsy or Amazon?
Thanks!

@DstrYrmnd_858606 now that you mention it of courese its totally meant to be like it....it ....aaaaa.......follows new found physical adaptation of the human body.......to aaaaaa.........perfectly fit the non symmetrical human nature.........hmmmmm........of space and time and evolution in general.........TOTALLY intended to be like that!!! stop asking questions! xD

@LupusWorax Is there a way you could fix it by any chance? If it's not too much to ask. I am very new to this stuff and have no CAD knowledge so I'm wondering if you could help me out?

A super great print project!
Thanks for all the work!
Now I just have to test it in practice.

All black print parts are made of TPU, red and white is PLA+

@drucker_627992 Nicely built! love the color combination! (edited)

Thanks for the great gunstock!
Am just already printing, but still have a few questions:
1. how do I get Breach_Buttstock_Pad.stl and Breach_Buttstock.stl together? Is that glued?
2. and should Breach_Buttstock_Pad.stl also be printed from TPU?
3. how is Breach_Cheek_Rest.stl fixed?
4. and should Breach_Cheek_Rest.stl also be printed from TPU?

EDIT:
5. And you wrote that it is better to take "Breach_Controller_Frontcups_TPU", but this is only for the right controller or?
6.And isn't the base still missing for 5. where you can attach it? (edited)

@LupusWorax 5.
Oh, now I understand, they are the front sides.
I have not looked closely enough.
6.
That would be great if you could find the parts in the depths of your hard drive :)
Would love to print the cups for the TPU halves.

@drucker_627992 aaaand its added ( Breach_Left_& Right controller for TPU Frontcups) thanks again for pointing that out ;)

So I finally got around to printing this and it's definitely a fantastic model and a must-have for every VR shooter.

Instead of supports everywhere I used custom paint-on supports and also printed the hinges without supports standing up.

I wasn't patient enough to wait for my M5 Bolts so currently, I'm just using M3 screws as a substitute.

For the knuckle straps, I also reused some generic Quest 2 straps that I had laying around (https://aliexpi.com/JnEV)

Everything was glued using AprintaPro PrintaGlue ( https://www.3djake.at/aprintapro/printaglue) (edited)

@ReneErler Holy damn buddy it looks super clean, congrats on the build! love the transparent tightening knobs! What color/filament is it?

@LupusWorax
Thanks, the filaments I used are:

Tightening knobs:
Fillamentum PLA Crystal Clear Iceland Blue

Buttstock, Lockplates, Pump Action
Fillamentum PLA Extrafill Wizard's Voodoo

Hinges:
Fillamentum PLA Extrafill Vertigo Grey

Magazine Bumper, Buttstock Pad
Fillamentum Flexfill TPU98A Vertigo Grey (edited)

thank you for your answer on my magnet question!
I have another one: why is your design so hard on FDM printers?
there are often not solid first layers. stuff flying in mid air, that will come off the bed when you forget the support for it. (see screenshots)

On the file Breach_Right_Controller_Split_CUP_HEXA there is even an over 90° overhang in there that is impossible to print even with "supports on build surface only". It's fine when you know what you doing while preparing this, but its VERY easy to miss as a beginner or advanced 3D printer guy.
I had to split this model (thats 2 objects in one stl) to two objects in tinkercad to even be able to print it at all first. When I tried without it, it warped because it had to be printed with nothing touching the buildplate in the first few layers at all.

no hard feelings, thanks for the design, but I think printing could be made SO much easier, if you would take into consideration that you need something on the first layers to stick onto for all the other layers.

On resin that would be no problem, but on FDM it is (in my book at least).

but as I said, thanks anyway. I got around it now and am looking forward to use it!

@MoppelMat I most likely did a small design change and the reupload was faulty. I dont print every single part after changing some details on it to be 100% sure its all perfect as I simply dont have the time for it. Thats the part where people into action like you telling me. I am not a pro, I do this as a hobby and simply share the files to my best knowledge. but I will have a look into the file and try my best to fix it. I dont post faulty parts on purpose to make you guys unhappy, but its a lot of parts and sadly I dont have a quality controll team on my hand to check every part of it. Sorry for making you angry with it.
I just rechecked and I do point out in the description to print all the parts with supports everywhere.
So it indeed would be SO much easier if people actually read the details more carefully ;) ( no hard feelings hehe) (edited)

@LupusWorax no no it all fine! I am not angry just a little shook up thats all. I am happy if you can fix it for future happy VR folks! If you need "a list" or something of mishaps I faced, just tell me and I see what I can help.

FIRST: thank you for this!
I am shopping for parts today and want to ask about the magnets.
I was a bit confused how the HEXA do not need magnets, but what I got out of your description now is: you STILL need magnets, they just do not need holes inside with the HEXA version. Is that correct? (edited)

@MoppelMat Hi Moppel, the Hexa does need magnets (double the amount then the older version so 8 pieces! ) Its two magnets on the controller side and two on the mounting plate side times 2. You can use magnets with holes or without them, as they are glued on anyways, but I was not able to find magnets that big without the bolt hole in the middle. Only the older model supported a screw in the middle but even that variant would work if you just glue them in. (edited)

Great Gunstock primed all including the rods which so far seem to be strong enough.
Used 25x5mm magnets which are rated to 12kg but although fine when using the pump action they can't hold if a bit too forceful so either needed to use the 30x5mm magnets or possibly the printed rods have added too much weight. It weighs in at 560 grams without the controllers and that side of hex cups, what does it weigh with the ALU?

@Zairs_426492 Great build! does the pump cation slider come off when you hit the front end of it? How "hard" are you hitting the front? I dont think its all to much about weight but more about the magnets and how hard you use the pump action slide. Also not sure how smooth the slide works with the printed rods.

@LupusWorax it's smooth and doesn't catch, both ends are glued so not any issues there but the controllers detach when pumping it as you would in RL.

So, finally I finished this buttstock. actually because of this project my first 3d printer was bought. I bought it on December 8 and since then I have started to make a stock. more than a month has passed and now I can enjoy it. For the right hand, I recommend doing (if you are right handed) Breach_Right_Controller_Split_CUP_HEXA.stl and for the left hand, Breach_Left_Controller_Split_CUP_old_design.stl, you will see, you will not regret it, since you will hold the entire structure with your right hand and it needs more contact area of the magnets. And LWC's wish: please make niches for magnets more at least by a millimeter, It was very difficult to put them in.
