I like the idea of hedgehog pencil holders I found online , but was unhappy with how they were designed. Specifically, I really didn't love that you couldn't put a pencil pointy-tip-down and keep it from resting on the tip. So I designed this hedgehog pencil holder based on a hedgehog mesh I found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3131019 .
I “solidified” the mesh with the crude mesh-to-solid method in Fusion360 and inserted some pencil-hole solids I modeled. Then I subtracted those solids out to create holes with relief for the points.
I also put some recessions underneath the base for adding optional rubberized pads to help it stay put/ keep from sliding around a smooth surface. I fit-tested with standard Ticonderoga school pencils, and it's a snug but forgiving fit that ensures your sharpened pencil tips won't break on insertion.
Printed at 0.16 mm layer height without support on my Bambu X1C in PLA. Probably would work fine at 0.2 mm.
