I bought a CR-10 Smart and it didn't come with a guide between the extruder motor and the filament runout sensor, so I figured I ought to make one. Has a little window cutout to see that there's filament in there; it doesn't affect feeding.
This should fit the CR-6 SE too, but I don't have one to try.
I recommend printing on its side, with the bigger hole at the bed. You might need to ream the hole out with a 2mm (or 2.5mm, depending on your tolerances) Allen key to let filament pass effectively, but once it snaps in I find that it's very reliable.
