With time, the awkward brace inside my fob began to fail, leading to the remote buttons failing one by one. I ordered a replacement housing from Aliexpress and the remote worked again. What I failed to realize was that the PATS chip was inside the logo part (C) of the housing, making the new fob useless to actually start the vehicle. As I preferred not to transplant the chip, I only took the button part (B) of the new housing and created a simple spacer to replace the one in the original housing (that was lacking in the unoriginal one).
The two parts should be glued together as shown in picture. The pictures show an older version, before I added a notch for easier alignment.
