RummyQ is so much fun. But the trays that come with my version are absolute crap. Good idea, but poor implementation.
Here's what I bought. It's price effective and portable; https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078MDY4VY
Even barely touching the tray or a tile will cause the tiles to fall off to the front. My first modification was to cut about 2-3mm off the back corners of the feet so the tray rocks back a bit more.
Second mod (now this I'll call a "hack" instead of the recently used simple tips people call hacks) really keeps the tiles in place. I used super glue and glued a strand of spaghetti to the front of each row. I was careful to only glue about an inch at a time, because most strands aren't straight. And while I was gluing, I put an actual tile on the tray with another strand in front. This allows some play, and prevents gluing your tiles to the tray.
This has been great, except with a folding tray, it still occasionally falls backward. This third mod solves that problem. I made a kickstand to hold the tray open. Now it's rock solid and you can move it about freely, tap it, pick it up one handed and it still stays open firmly.
I used PETG and 50% infill because I want a strong, durable part. The clearance is 0.2mm and should print easily if you're calibrated. I used no supports and the print-in-place hinge gives a good interference fit. In other words, it is not supposed to move freely, friction keeps the kickstand in place, whether in use or folded flat.
The whole thing is designed to fit behind the tray without taking any useable space, and folds flat to fit in the carrying case.
Once printed, hold the base firmly and bend the kickstand open. PETG is pretty strong, so if you hold the kickstand nearest the hinge it snaps right open yet maintains the friction fit. Should the fit become looser in time, the kickstand folds open to 100°.
Here's to many great games, Enjoy!
