Description

PDF

This is a solid shape that represents the inner available volume of an L-Boxx Mini that I created using this method by Croaky Oak with a small clearance added.

It can be used to make custom inserts for tools and other things by subtracting volumes from it and/or cutting it up. Or use one of the 2D formats to laser cut or hand cut foam inserts and such. Check out the remixes for examples and inspiration.

It's available in STEP, STL for 3D printing. And in DXF, SVG, and PDF (A4 and US Letter) for cutting. Read more about 2D formats below.

The L-Boxx Mini is part of the L-Boxx system and is available from Bosch and BS Systems and is available on Amazon and various other stores.

Fit

The fit is a pretty close approximation to the inner shape of an L-Boxx Mini. The inner shape of the box isn't entirely symmetrical or perpendicular which is taken into account in this model.

Note: Being asymmetrical and and non-perpendicular, the model only fits in the box in one way. You can not flip or mirror it.

3D Formats

The 3D model has a clearance of 0.6mm in total in the X and Y axis (0.3mm removed on each face) to allow easy insertion and removal without allowing it to wiggle too much. I've tested it with several boxes including branded ones from Bosch.

Below is a photo of a print to showcase the fit.

Vertical Dimensions and References

As mentioned above, the inner shape of the box isn't entirely symmetrical or perpendicular. The top back edge can be used as a reference edge. It is 100% horizontal.

The top surface of the model corresponds to the lower edge of the structural beams of the lid. The void inside the lid is not considered available space. However, you would technically have 8mm of additional vertical space in those areas.

The shape also has a ledge around the top perimeter to provide clearance for the fins of the lid.

2D Formats

The 2D formats are meant for cutting. For foam, cardboard, acrylic, etc. They represent the outlines of the bottom of the inside of the L-Boxx Mini.

They're available with and without 0.3mm clearance on each edge. Use the versions with clearance for solid materials (plywood, acrylic, metal, etc) and the version without clearance for soft materials such as foam, rubber, etc.

The PDFs have a ruler that you can use to check whether you have printed it at the correct scale.

Note that, being asymmetrical and and non-perpendicular, the model only fits in the box in one way. You can not flip or mirror it. The 2D formats represent a top view and the upper edge of the shape goes towards the hinge of the box.
