If you want to run tires with larger diameter than stock 26x3.6” on Surly Wednesday, you need to shift the rear axle a bit backwards in the rear dropout, to gain extra clearance for larger tires.
You have three options:
- Move the axle back in the dropout and tighten extra hard. In my case, the axle usually slips forward when pedaling harder = not usable.
- Buy Surly Monkey Nuts. One piece on the drive side should suffice, but a pair is better. Quite costly, but surly safest bet.
- Print a pair of these spacers. I’ve been running them year long on 29x3.0” and 26x4.6”. Both summer and winter. No troubles yet.
Printed from Prusament PETG, 40 % infill, 2 perimeters, 4 bottom & 5 top players, 0.16 mm layer height
