-While PLA is generally safe to come into contact with food, there are exceptions and detail that are important to consider.
1- The dyes in 3D printed plastics may not be food safe and may leech into the food should they be in contact with the food for a prolonged period of time. (A quick motion of a cookie cutter, regarding it is in good condition and room temperature, does not pose a great risk, but USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.) --- To eliminate the risk, use a dye less filament or one that has dyes labeled as safe for use with food.
2- Due to many porous surfaces, 3D printed plastics can be a breeding ground for bacteria. (Again for the quick motion of a cookie cutter, unlike a container which would be in contact with food for hours, this is not a great risk should it be cleaned thoroughly, but USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
