Universal Hands Free Door Opener (Handle Adapter) - no screws needed

I uploaded the Fusion 360 file so that you can remix the design to better fit your own door handle or to adjust the text that is shown on the handle, if you want.

Description:

I wanted to print something that helps during these turbulent times and which ideally prevents harm to people.

As we touch our faces quite often with our hands, it is at the moment very important to wash your hands regularly. However, you cannot wash your hands each time you open a door and also the door handle cannot be cleaned after each person.

So I came up with the idea of a printed part which allows to open the door without using your hand. It turns out that many people had a similar idea.

So I wanted to make a design, which has some advantages to the others:

• only requires stuff that most people have at home (no screws or nuts, just zip ties and for example rubber bands)
• universally applicable at the inner and outer side of the door and with a variety of door handles
• very fast to print and install
• just 1 part
• no supports needed
• explanation on how to use directly shown on the part (thx @materialise for the graphic)

How to use:
1) print the part (recommended settings below)
2) put some rubber bands or something else made out of rubber around the door handle
3) use 2 or 3 zipties through the holes in the part to fix the part to the door handle (see photos)
4) use your arm to open the door instead of your hand

General note:
Of course, I cannot guarantee, that this part will prevent you from getting any illness. However, as most people are regularly touching their faces with their hands and not their arms, I think it is a sensefull tool in conjunction with regularly washing your hands and sticking to social distancing.

Print instructions

The part has already the right orientation for the printbed (laying on the side).

I print it with:

• 0.20 mm layer
• PLA
• 15% infill
• Prusa MK3S

and with those settings it takes only around 2 to 2,5 hours to print 1.
