This is the youngest member of a series of sturdy shutter boxes. This model comes with a new designed lid and some other small improvements. The shutter lid stays firm in opened or closed position independent in which direction it is being held; still it can be opened with one hand. Please find more models/sizes at
Print* all parts in PLA. recommended settings: Box main body: Cut off one side at 3.5 mm, and print @ 0.3mm layer height Sides: print at @ 0.3mm Shutter: Good settings crucial for the shutter so that it will turn out flexible but sturdy enough. I made three ranges (height range modifier) 0-0.6mm:0.05mm layer-height, 0.6-5mm: 0.2mm, 5mm-7mm: 0.15mm, Top-/Bottom fill pattern: Archimedean Chords, Fill pattern: Line
Once everything is printed, use glue to assemble the box (I used universal glue for the bigger parts and super glue for the fragile/small parts).
First glue the separate side of the box into the side-part and then glue the two to the rest of the box. Make sure every thing lines up well and that there is no glue in the rails.
Weigh down until glue is dry.
Once the glue on the box is properly dried, you may add a little grease / silicone spray to the rails. It will make the shutter run smoother.
Put the shutter in. Do this carefully while bending both the shutter and the sides of the box just a little bit. At first it might seem that the shutter is stuck and not moving well, but after opening and closing the box a few times the shutter should run smoothly and should be able to open and close it with just one hand.
I already printed this a few times and improved it to the point where I think it is working very well. But please let me know if you have problems or suggestions to make it better.
