Having printed several Gridfinity storage boxes, I always felt that there was a little bit of wasted space in the base section that locks into the grid. Here I have created a hidden compartment that slots in to the bottom of the box and appears to make up the base. You get about 5mm or so of depth so ideal for a small key, an SD card, or a secret written on a small piece of paper.

Note: You lose the spaces for the magnets in this version, I removed them for extra space and I currently don't use them anyway.

Printing tips:

  • Both parts are best printed as oriented in the STLs
  • The main storage bin file regrettably must be printed with supports so that the thing doesn't collapse, but it will only use a tiny bit of material.
  • The bottom of the main container seems to be a little bit prone to warping, so watch your bed temperatures or maybe consider a raft.
  • The hidden compartment is sized to fit exactly so it's likely you will need to scale it down to fit properly. 99% worked well for me although it could probably stand to be a little tighter.
