This is the first model I made myself, and I learned a lot about 3D modelling for 3D printing with this one.

It is made with enough space on the tail for the Sennheiser GSP 500 headset, and has a friction fit for a 18mm shelf.

If you are interested in printing this but need a different size shelf - get in touch and I will see if I can adjust the model.

The splash and eyes I glued into place, since I don't have a multi material extruder.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

I3 MK3S

Supports:

Yes

Notes:

Whale Body:

* I used support enforcers for the mouth and tail tips only, the rest will print fine without supports. * I also made sure the bridging orientation on the mouth is from front to back, to help with the friction fit, as well as reduce overhang from the bridging. * In order to align the seam along the spine of the whale, I rotated the model so the face is to the front of the plate, and set the seam position to rear

Splash

  • This prints very well with only a brim - no supports needed
  • Printed at 0.1mm layer height, which is plenty of detail.
  • I used Fillamentum Crystal Clear Iceland Blue for the one I made, which works really well in my opinion.

Eyes

  • Printed these on finer layer height, since they're so tiny, but it is not necessary.
  • Pick a colour that is a nice contrast to the body colour, for that googly eyes effect
