This is my original Pile of Poo 3D model, first published on Thingiverse on 2016/07/20, now hosted on GitHub. I am publishing it on Printables as well so everyone can more easily attribute it as a remix. Check the GitHub repository for the latest updates to this model, the Blender source file, and more detailed information.
Go to my site for an overview of my other models. Only a few of them are published on Printables.
Unsatisfied with the looks of the existing models of the poop emoji aka smiling turd, I made my own from scratch to be as faithful to the 2D original as possible. Eventually the best method proved to actually mimic the process of depositing a long sausage onto a flat surface, by applying the Curve modifier in Blender with a hand-crafted spiral. In a sense, I simulated the process of depositing poop using high-tech. Ah, the joys of technology!
Models are provided for either:
If you print the single model or the two-material model, the inside of the eyes can be coloured with a sharp permanent marker, which is easier than trying to paint them.
If you don't have a multi-material printer and want to manually print and assemble parts printed in different colors, look in the ‘Separate parts for manual assembly’ folder.
Printing should be easy, no rafts or supports required. I printed at 0.2 mm layers, 15% infill, without any rafts or supports. Feel free to scale up or down, the prints shown in the photos are at 75% size.
If you have trouble printing the mouth, you could enable supports for only that region, but a good cooling fan should make supports unnecessary.
Pre-sliced gcode files are provided for the MK3S (single material) or a multi-material print for the MK3S with MMU. For the latter, extruder 1 should be brown PLA, extruder 2 white, and extruder 3 black.
If you have printed the separate parts version, use glue to assemble them. If you have a hard time pushing the pupils into the eyes, either print them again scaled down to 99% or less, or just sand them until they fit.
