Reduce the likelihood of scratches and damage of your action camera lens and filter. This lens hood is fastened through simply adding it between a 52mm filter and a camera cage.

I am using an Insta360 ONE R with a SmallRig cage (2901), which has a 52mm filter thread. There are also similar cages from SmallRig for the GoPro Hero7/6/5 (2320) and for the DJI Osmo Action (2475). They have a 52mm filter thread as well. However, i tried to optimize the design for the 4K wide angle lens from Insta360.

I tested my hood designs through taking 4:3 images and checking the amount of vignetting, or rather the visibility of the filter and lens hood. The cage itself causes no vignetting, as long as there is no filter attached. Vignetting occurs even with a slim filter. Adding the lens hood introduces a bit more vignetting, but not much more than a variable ND filter.

When images and videos in 16:9 format are considered, the lens hood and filter is almost invisible. Only under extreme conditions, where the digital image stabilization utilizes all recorded pixels, the lens hood can appear in frame (as seen in the clip below, on the left and right side of the frame).
