If you ever had to press in heated inserts you know how easy it is to accidentally put them in at an angle. If you already have a Dremel press station (model 220) then this adapter will allow you to mount your soldering iron and utilize the pressing mechanism of the Dremel press to ensure perfectly straight installation of threaded inserts. The adapter is held in place by press fitting into the housing which limits the amount of downward force you are able to apply to ensure you do not force the piece in.
Assembly
M4 nuts and bolts. Bolts are inserted into the main body and the M4 bolts is what holds the clamp on.
Usage
My model soldering iron is a HAKKO FX - 888D but I have used other soldering irons. One model I know that cannot be used is the Weller W60P as the grip has too large of a circumference. The Fusion 360 file is included should you like to modify it so suit your needed.
Printing Instructions
Layer Height = 0.3
Infill = 20%
Perimeters = 3
It can be printed out of any material but the higher the heat resistance the better. There is no direct contact with plastic as there is an air gap between the adapter and heating element but over time I would imagine the part warping do to the heat, especially when using for extended period of time during on session.
Testing
The one shown in the image was printed with PLA and I have inserted about 60 or so inserts over the last couple of months and I have not seen any warping as of yet. I am still using it but when it needs to be replace I will probably use ABS or PETG.
