Here is my bobbing head character design that loosely resembles the Star Wars character, Darth Vader.
The character's head attaches to the body via a soft (under damped) metal spring. When there's movement in the model, the head will continue moving, even after the body has returned to a steady state, "bobbing" for a short while.
I have my bobbing character in my car. It has no functional role apart from visual amusement as you watch the head bopping.
Since my character is kept in my car, I chose a filament that should withstand a hot Sydney summer, PETG (fingers crossed). If your filament thermal needs are not the same, any filament type can be used.
My print is made with eSUN PETG 1.75mm Black filament, with 0.2mm layer height and 15% infill on a Bambu X1 Carbon printer. It is recommended that the head part includes supports.
I hope that you can find this print useful, too.
Remember to leave me some feedback or even a tip to keep me enthused to make more of these drawings.
