This project is an adaptation from EWON Raspberry Pi Powered Home Robot
by Sharathnaik:

“Using a Raspberry Pi, Ewon isn’t a robot that moves around, but rather an expressive Google assistant. Using some servo-driven ears and a display, Ewon reacts to you based on keywords you use in your queries. For example, it might perk up and smile at the mention of ice cream. Or look unhappy if you mention sadness.”

This is a video of the original project:

The original files that I remixed are available here:

My remix uses a new hardware and updated software as described here:

Why this adaptation and what is it about?

When I started to build this robot, the screen used originaly was unavailable, so I built an adaptation using a cheap (< $10) 3.5" GPIO screen for pi.
I ordered mine from aliexpress :
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/4001112465559.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.2cdb5e5bH8WgXD&gatewayAdapt=glo2fra

I also adapted a few 3D files for easier assembly :

  • integration of the servo horn in the servo link stl to avoid using glue
  • modification on the cover for easier assembly, ventilation and sound

Also I could not find some of the non printable parts, so I designed or reused some printable ones :

  • 10 mm standoff
  • 70 mm standoff
  • 696 bearing

I initialy posted only modified files, but to avoid confusion, I finally uploaded all project files. Files named x2 x4 are to print 2 or 4 times. "Directly reused" are conform to the files from original EWON project.
This is a work in progress, I am preparing an instructable page to detail assembly instructions:
https://www.instructables.com/EWON-Raspberry-Pi-Powered-Home-Robot-new-Hardware-/

The standoff are directly reused from:

The bearings are reused from :

Work in progress, please feel free to share any idea, advice…

Log:

2022/11/15: I uploaded a new version of Rod_Connect.stl : on one side I enlarged of 1.1mm for an optimal connexion

2022/11/15: I uploaded a new version of Top_Cover.stl : a small assymetry on a corner was corrected. It was so small that I did not notice it first, but it seems that some printer shop ask it to be fixed
