A warm reminder of all the amazing things SpaceX is doing right now every time you reach for your pen or pencil.

The SpaceX logo's X is its most recognizable feature. It conjures images of exhaust trails high up in the atmosphere from a rocket destined for space. This celestial organizer is a single piece printed in two colors with a rectangular hole extending from the top of the blue part through the silver cross-section almost to the bottom. The tip of the trail is purposely shortened and blunted for safety and to avoid tipping over. The opening appears small but can hold up to 5-6 pens and pencils.

The SpaceX Pen Holder is 3D printed in Galaxy Silver and Tuxedo Midnight Blue. Galaxy Silver to give it that extra glittery shine on the trail and Midnight Blue (#005288) to match the logo. In a happy accident you'll see some of that glitter bleed into the Midnight Blue like little stars. Here's a quick video of the process:

The dimensions are 7" x 3" x 6". Remixed from the original by DragonflyFabrication (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3396464).

Changes:

  • multi-color version
  • flattened some of the curved edges
  • made a new hole
  • blunted the pointy end to be safer

Print instructions

Category: Organization Print Settings

Printer Brand: Prusa

Printer: i3 MK3S MMU2S

Rafts: No

Supports: No

Resolution: 0.3mm

Infill: 15%

Filament: Prusament, Paramount3D PLA Galaxy Silver, Tuxedo Midnight Blue
Notes:

Rotate it 180% and use a textured sheet to get the nice surface finish on the front. Make sure your bed is level or there will be some lifting (mine does in the photos because my bed is warped with bed level correction)

I printed this with a 0.6mm nozzle at 0.3mm layer height but more detail won't hurt. Using 15% infill because the thing part caused an explosive print fail one one of the test prints and at 15% it's safe.
