Got a new print cooling fan, new filament or just curious about your printers overhang performance? This thing is the perfect benchmark to test just that. The part comes in multiple varieties depending on your needs and how thorough you want to be with your testing. The test has a range of overhangs from 25° all the way to 90°, to really test even the best of printers. There is a gauge integrated into the print, so you always have a point of reference, as to how well your printer performed. Each line on the gauge represents a 5° change in overhang angle.

I recommend printing the Overhang_benchmark_FULL.stl model to get the best idea of all-around performance, but tests for each axis (both X and Y) and single direction are also available. A brim or raft is not needed because of the large flat bottom.

My cooling setup for the test pictured above is a single 5015 blower fan at 100% speed, with the air guided into two ducts flanking the nozzle. The filament used is PLA at 210° printed at 50mm/s and outer walls at 40mm/s

Have fun benchmarking, and remember to share your makes
