This model consists of 10 parts - 1 sun gear, 1 internal gear, 1 backplate, 1 holder which attaches to stepper motor, 3 planetary gears and 3 caps which holds planetary gears in place. All parts are possible to print without any supports. To assemble this model, you will need some superglue and 8x3mm or 6x3mm magnet.

Make sure you choose correct holder. One holder is for stepper motors with 10mm edge on which it is supposed to be mounted and second is for 13mm.

After printing all parts, you will need to make sure that planetary gears can rotate freely on the backplate. If not, you can clear holes using 4,5mm drill bit and smooth out pins with some sandpaper. Then you will have to check if all gears can fit in the internal gear and move freely. After this you can start to assemble this model.

  1. Align holder to stepper motor and decide how do you want planetary gears to be placed.
  2. Then glue backplate to the holder.
  3. Put internal gear in place (the big one).
  4. Place planetary gears and glue caps to secure them.
  5. Glue the magnet to raised part of the sun gear.
  6. Finally, just clip the holder to stepper motor and insert sun gear.
