Smooth FANG Mount for Ender 3 with BLTouch

This is a mount for the FANG for 5015 Fan - Smooth Design by amass3d. It can also used with FANG Lateral Cooler Remix by mvanallen.

It can be used on the Creality Ender 3 along with the BLTouch automatic bed level sensor mount by registeredthing. By combining the mount and sensor it is easier to print.

The sensor is mounted on the right to help keep all the wires together in one area. By mounting it on the right the "X" carriage avoids the stop sensor mounted on the left of the printer.

The hot-end fan box was created with a larger opening to better fix the hot-end.

The 5015 fan helps increase the stability when printing at 60-70 angles.

v13 - I needed to move the BLTouch mount down 2mm, so springs are no longer needed This helps in keep maintenance easier and makes it more accurate I also moved the wiring clip over and added two holes for a cable tie to help keep things clean. I included a version without the BLTouch. I modified a swirl fan grill to help reduce fan noise.

Update: 25JAN2019

v12 - I made several changes to the mount so that it fits better. I also added a circular mount for wiring along with two small holes for a zip tie to help support the wiring.

There are two other new additions...

A mount without the BLTouch, as requested.

A fan guard, because I kept sticking my fingers in the fan, duh.

The D3 parts do not need supports. However, when printing the SmoothFANG for the 5050 or FANG Lateral Cooler Remix for the stock fan, I suggest using a brim.

Four M3x16 screws and nut are needed, the rest are stock.

Four M3x20 screws for the fan grill.

Install the FANG on the mount using the screws.

Install the BLTouch on the mount using the screws that came with the BLTouch.

Install the 40mm fan on the hot-end fan cover.

Remove the fans, cover and hot-end.

Install the mount on the carriage using the stock screws.

Re-install the hot-end.

Attached the hot-end fan cover.

Update the firmware with the following BLTouch probe settings...

define X_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER 50

define Y_PROBE_OFFSET_FROM_EXTRUDER -5

If using Marlin 1.1.9, be careful of your clips as it comes close to the in the front.

How I Designed This

I was looking to add a 5015 fan to my Ender 3 however there were not many choices. I wanted something simple and easy to print. I decided to search the CR-10 and I found ozfunghi's FANG OEM. However, the mount did not fit and the fan, to me, should be pointed the other direction.

Then I found amass3d remix, Smooth Design. It printed beautifully.

So, I decided to modify the mount and tweak the hot-end fan box. I added registeredthing's BLTouch mount.

I like many of mightynozzle's Customizable Fan Grill Cover. I decided to use the honey comb version. It made the fan very loud. To help fix that, I added 5mm spacers between the grill and the fan. This helped reduce the noise.
