Free up your Dyson V8!

This is a universal adapter for the Dyson V8 which allows the use of non Dyson nozzles.

I have added already some versions and included also the FreeCAD file which gives you the total freedom to create your own nozzles and adapters.

Included STL files:

Dyson_V7_V8_V10_universal_adapter_40outer_34inner.stl:

Dyson_V7_V8_V10_short_extension.stl:

Furminator_for_Dyson_V7_V8_V10.stl and Furminator_ball_for_Dyson_V7_V8_V10.stl:

Drillnozzle_v2_for_Dyson_V7_V8_V10_45degree.stl:

  • A universal Drill nozzle with a 45 degree angle to work also with the V7 V8 and V10

Drillnozzle_v2_straigth_for_Dyson_V10.stl:

Drillnozzle_for_Dyson_V7_V8V10.stl

Dyson_V7_V8_V10_universal_adapter_35mmdiameter.stl:

  • An adapter with a 35 mm diameter for available universal tools (as sold in 1 dollar shops)

Dyson_V7_V8_V10_universal_adapter:

  • File has no use on its own, but is thought as an input for other CAD programs to do your own modelling.

Post-Printing

Trim the interlock geometry

v2 version of the adapter should now easily slide into the Dyson, but you still might have to trim down the interlock system a little (at my PETG print I had to file off around 0,2mm on each side for the adapter to fit smoothly into my Dyson)

How I Designed This

FreeCAD

Split into 2 models for size purpos, including imported models which now gives you the complete freedom to design whatever adapter diameters or nozzles you need.

You can also directly attach other nozzles (STL) from thingiverse to the adapter.

Just import the STL and position it on top of the initial geometry. You now can export again a merged STL (solid and STL) by selecting all the solids and STL you want to export before starting the Export. This will create a unified STL of all the selected models.

If you want to edit the the imported STL you have to:

  1. open the Part work bench
  2. use the Part work bench "Create shape from mesh..." to create a surface model
  3. optional use the Part work bench "Refine shape" to reduce the triangles, if possible
  4. use the Part work bench "Convet to Solid" to finally create a solid which you can now edit with the other functions of the part work bench
