Phone mounts for DJI Mavic controllers seem to come in two flavors. Either they are built specifically for one particular type of phone or they have some bulky adjustable mount. It's annoying to buy a new phone or case only to find it doesn't work with my drone. This mount works with virtually any phone or case.

To get past the issue, I've been using a homegrown magnetic phone mount, I cobbled together from other bits, with my drones for a while so I decided to design and print a nicer alternative. You will need to supply a cable to connect your phone as the stock (irritating) cable won't reach. My Mavic2 Pro just uses a standard cable plugged in the USB under the mount. For my Mini, I bought a 1ft micro USB - lightning cable on Amazon for a couple of bucks.

Added a version 1.1 of the plate with a 1mm chamfer that helps it sit a little tighter in the remote. It's not worth reprinting if you already have the first one; both work fine.

Holes in the handle for a lanyard, if you're so inclined. I use a small carabiner.

This relies on a magnetic phone mount available on Amazon for about $10(US). The mount comes with a few thin steel shims to make the case magnetic. Properly placed, wireless charging isn't impacted. I use this same mount in my car.

Tips are appreciated if you find this useful.

Print instructions

Category: R/C Vehicles Print Settings

Printer Brand: Creality

Printer: Ender 3 Pro

Rafts: Doesn't Matter

Supports: Yes

Resolution: .2

Infill: 30%

Filament: ESun PLA+ Peak Green
Notes:

I print this in the orientation in the files. The upper portion face down, covering the hole for the magnet. Support on build plate only. It's a bit of a pain tearing out the support, My printer bridges it okay but if not, but most of it gets hidden behind the magnet.

The base plate is easy; print flat side down. Support under the three tabs.

I made the tang and hole tight. You will need to file/sand the portion that extends into the mount until you get the fit you want. I just use friction to hold it together, but glue or a couple of screws into the holes provided with a couple of washers works well too.

You will need a cable to connect the phone. My Mavic2 Pro just uses a standard phone cable plugged in the USB under the mount. For my Mini, I bought a1ft micro USB - lightning cable on Amazon for a couple bucks.
