This is a glue stick applicator, using a moist sponge to help distribute the glue in a thin and even layer.

It annoyed me that the glue stick gave a rough texture to the print surface and actually held the prints a little too well. With this method you can easily apply just the right amount of glue, and maintain a super smooth surface print after print.

I designed this for UHU sticks, but I guess most brands will work. Scale if needed. The center hole is 26 mm in diameter with a narrow part ca 24 mm.

Instructions

Print this in your favorite material, PLA works fine for me even if PET was used for the pictures. Cut a strip of sponge to fit, and stick it in the applicator. Press/twist a glue stick into the center hole. Pour some water in the holder "vase". To wet the sponge you simply put the applicator in the holder and give it a gentle shake or two.

I usually start with applying some glue in a diagonal pattern. Then I retract the gluestick a bit, and finish the print bed off with the wet sponge in straight lines from the center to the side edges.

I designed this in Tinkercad, sliced with CraftWare and printed it on a CraftBot.
