It is a puzzle box-esque penguin that I made for my sister, with just a couple of moves to unlock everything. Designed not to fall apart if it is anythingbut straight upside down.

If you're making this for someone else, posts can get lost, feet can break if the penguin is dropped from a height. (Make extras!)

You will need to glue the eyes in.

Post-Printing =============

Cleaning up support

The beak will have very little support, but you'll need to remove it so that things fit. The BodyBack stl had some tough support to pull off. If you extrude too much on the first layer, you may need to sand edges (primarily the top edges of the wing as they slide into BodyBack).

How I Designed This ===================

Blender, and lots of iterations

Fitting and refitting to have accurate tolerances.

Overall design process:
  1. Outside shell
  2. Interior puzzle
  3. Cut outside shell vertexes free from the rest of the shell.
  4. Merge outside shell vertexes to interior puzzle parts.

Lessons learned:

"Locking post" tolerances are usually about 80-90% of the hole diameter.

The head popped free of the original one tab+post combination, requiring the back of HeadFace to be higher for the post, and adding another tab.
