The return hose on our Coleman 14' x 42" above ground pool shoots the stream straight out into the center of the pool. Any pool this large (or larger) really should have the return flow diverted to the side, away from the inlet so that the water creates a swirling vortex. Of course, the puny pumps that they provide with these pools don't have the power for that anyway, but what if you replace that with a larger (1.5hp; 4500 gal/hr) pump and a sand filter? You really want that water spinning...

The Coleman doesn't have removable hose connectors like the Intex pools, so I needed a little more creative solution. This odd looking device slides into the return port from the outside. The rim prevents it from being pushed all the way through. The hose slips over it and onto the coupler. The clamp not only holds the hose in place, but it also holds this diverter in the position you place it. Angle the opening to the side away from the inlet, slightly downward for best results.

The water will not only be pushed out at an angle, but the slightly smaller opening will also increase the water pressure coming out.
