IKEA Markus is a great office chair with decent part quality and very long warranty for an attractive price. However, there is one design flaw – the original armrests cannot be adjusted in any way and will most likely hit your desk. If you want to work without heavy original armrests, but still need to grab a chair from time to time or level it under yourself during the work, I have prepared an easily printable alternative. Just print it twice and use the original screws.
Rafts: No
Supports: No
Resolution: 0.2mm
Notes:
• Use high quality PLA or stronger material (from CPE+ to composites) depending on how you plan to handle the chair.
• 0.2mm layers are OK here, but use more surface walls (like 5) and more dense infill (cubic, gyroid etc.) near the mounting holes. See the picture of sliced part.
• NO SUPPORTS are needed as the only supported areas are already solved in the model thanks to single-layer bridging. (But DO NOT rotate the model on the buildplate upside down. ;-) ) Remove the thin bridging in the holes with knife easily before mounting phase.
• Use some matching (or contrast) colour. Very nice is Vertigo Grey or any anthracite shade.
