I replaced the broken diesel fuel cap on my car and thought I'd make a simple desk stand to keep the old lid on display. I designed a holder in OpenSCAD from measurements taken off the cap, did a little experimentation with hull for the base. Final print used increased density infill in the bottom layers to add stability. Not sure if this would work for a gasoline fuel cap, let me know your results if you try it…
Note: GCODE is for PETG because I had a particular color (Greengate Green) that I wanted to use.
