My custom spool holder. It fits for all common spools. Due to the standard bearing (like for a skateboard), the filament can unwind with low friction.

Instructions:
Printed parts and the following are needed:

  • 1x M8 screw, 10 cm length
  • 1x M8 nut (nylon)
  • 2x M4 screws for mounting (diameter 4 mm)
  • 2x standard bearings (outer diameter 22 mm, inner 8 mm, 7 mm thick)

Assembly:

  1. Insert the M8 screw in the holder. Maybe you need to slightly hammer on the screw head.
  2. Place one bearing in the tube and then the long spacer. Insert the second bearing. Make sure the spacer aligns with the hole in the bearing.
  3. Mount the base. Put the tube on the long screw. Add the outer spacer. Screw the nut on it. Make sure it is not too tight.
  4. Add a spool and secure it the the printed nut After a few time it will screw/unscrew with less friction.

Print instructions

I printed it with PLA, 0.1 mm layer height and 30% infill. Supports only for the screw insert in the base and one side of the tube.
