My office door closes on it's own and some people who come into it have a tendency to shut all/most of the way (even when I'm available); this results in people starting to assume that any time my office door is shut I can talk. Which of course means that nearly daily I have someone walk in while I'm on a call and I have to awkwardly signal to them that I'm on a call and can't talk. I was inspired by this flag design, but it wouldn't work for my office layout, so I designed this sign to fit on the plastic inbox bin on my door; the clips also work as a stand for setting this directly on a flat surface (like a desk). If someone remixes the clips to work with a different mount setup, let me know so I can link to it here.

Print instructions:

All colors are done using layer height based filament changes. No MMU required.

Note: the included .gcode files include pauses for filament change to get the different colors.

Print background of both UN and AVAILABLE parts in the same color so they blend better when UN is hidden. I printed all parts using the prusaslicer 0.2mm layer height quality preset.

Assembly instructions:

  1. Print all parts.
  2. Place AVAILABLE over UN (make sure they're oriented the same way).
  3. Apply glue to the top of the two small tabs on the left/right edge of the UN part (I used Gorilla Glue superglue as that's what I had on the work bench).
  4. Align the bezel part to the UN and AVAILABLE and place so the UN notches insert into the cutouts of the bezel.
  5. Allow glue to dry. If you really want to secure it, apply more glue around the perimeter of the bezel / UN component, just be sure to not glue the AVAILABLE part in place; I used hot glue on the backside in a few spots.
  6. Attach clips to the dovetail feature on the back. Hook the short leg to the top and stretch the long leg to reach the bottom.
