A case for a small PCB, a 9V battery with a hole for an SMA connector.

This Fast Edge Generator can be used to determine the bandwidth of an oscilloscope, provided that the actual edge that is being generated is fast enough.

Additionally this circuit can be used to measure the length of a coax or determine the position of a fault in a coax by measuring the delay between the initial edge and the reflection.

The datasheet states that the absolute maximum for the supply voltage is 7V, please keep that in mind. I'd definitely recommend using a 5V linear regulator after the 9V battery to be safe. http://cva.stanford.edu/classes/cs99s/datasheets/74AC14.pdf

Bandwidth = 0.35 / Risetime

The IC used is the 74AC14, the HC variant is slower: https://youtu.be/vvIuJUVV4VY

Here's an excellent video on this generator (includes schematic): https://youtu.be/9cP6w2odGUc
