This is an all-inclusive extruder mount for the Bondtech BMG-X2 dual direct drive extruder on a Creality Ender 5. This fits the BMG-X2 model designed for the 18 mm c-c version of the E3D Chimera hotend (including the TH3D Tough clone), although it may fit the 20 mm version as well.

This is a work in progress - there are some minor tweaks I'd like to make for improved assembly ease, robustness, and height adjustments. That being said, I've printed these files, installed them on my Ender 5, and everything works exactly as intended.

The mount is designed to clip over the top of the x-axis carriage plate and bolt to the carriage in 3 places using M3 hardware, after which you can install the extruder and stepper motors, then finally the fan ducts, supports, and BLTouch mount.

The ducts were a challenge to package well without increasing the footprint of the already large BMG-X2 extruder. The ducts are roughly constant-area from the fan inlet down to the region where it necks down towards the nozzle. There are internal flow straighteners designed to improve flow and support the print while bridging. Some trimming may be required to the notch at the fan inlet depending on your 5015 design.

Note that you will need to replace your stock x-axis belt, as the metal crimp-ends will interfere with the back of the mount. I'll include a link to the belt lock clamp I used to allow the required clearance. The design utilizes dual 5015 cooling fans for part cooling and a standard 30mm fan for the hotend. It also includes a mount for a BLTouch.

I included a bowden tube slicing fixture. It will cut the bowden tube to 38.2mm, which is the length I measured to be correct for mating between the all-metal hotend and the outlet of the extruders.

Notes:

Print in PETG as PLA will likely not withstand the temperatures or forces.

See image for suggested build plate orientations.

Print the extruder mount in the same orientation as it would be mounted. Supports required for the rear "clip" that attaches to the x-axis carriage plate.

I printed the fan ducts with the front side facing down. There are integrated internal flow straighteners that support the wider regions when bridging. Use supports from the build plate only, with smallest offset to the part to ensure the shallowest regions are well supported. I haven't tried this, but alternatively you may try printing the ducts flipped, it will require more support structures.
